Break The Wall // Documentary

Break the Wall is a documentary that focuses on the journey one of the first techno DJs in China, Yang Bing. In this film, we follow him across the country visiting cities such as Beijing, Chengdu, Hong Kong and many others to better understand the current state of underground electronic music in China. In the film, we see how this underground scene has grown exponentially, but also comes with many dangers in terms of government restrictions.

The film also explores Yang Bing’s past and how he’s seen this decidedly “counter-culture” style of music grow in a country that is heavily resistant to anything that goes against the status quo.

The film was released at Amsterdam Dance Event in Holland, and later spawned its own festival which has been held in cities such as Chengdu and Taipei.
